SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE ADMIXTURES

astm c494 type s – internal cure, superplasticizer and water reducer admixtures
astm c494 type s is an admixture that is formulated for internally curing concrete. It is used on projects where internal curing of the concrete is critical to the project’s success. The admixture is required to meet certain performance properties compared to a control batch.

The admixture must achieve 90 % compressive strength within one test age. This requirement is set to promote rapid qualification of new admixtures, but also to prevent future deterioration in the compressive strength of the concrete with time.

High-Range Water Reducers (Type F & G)

ASTM c494 Type F and G superplasticizers are admixtures that provide the desired increased flowability, low water absorption and improved durability of concrete with the added benefit of high slumps without segregation. They are effective in parking structures, bridges and marine applications.

Chloride-Free Setting Accelerators

In the past, calcium chloride was used as a set accelerator because it was inexpensive. However, the corrosive effects of chloride are now recognized and non-chloride containing set accelerator admixtures are available to prevent potential corrosion of embedded or stressed steel.
